Half Mile Here, Half Mile There

I have started to extend my runs in the beginning and have the option to extend them at the end as well.  I have figured out a half mile route that I run at the beginning and then start my usual route.  It is great.  I can easily add a half mile or mile to each of my runs with minimal effort. 

Do you have tricks to extend your run?
