I just
read an article in regards to diet vs. exercise. The author
puts more emphasis on diet rather than exercise when it comes to weight
loss. I agree 100%. When I was bigger, I was running as well.
The running helped to limit my weight gain, but if I would not have changed how
I ate, I would have never lost weight. Of course once you change your
diet, consistent exercise will help you lose the weight at a faster rate.
Remember that
in order to lose a pound, you must have a deficit of 3500 calories. You
can achieve this by cutting out 500 calories a day for a week through exercise
or diet. Which is easier, walking
five miles a day or cutting out a candy bar and coke from the vending machine? I found eliminating certain foods from my
diet made more of a difference than walking/running more.
I still
believe in exercise. But if you are just starting off, concentrate on
your diet and portion control while starting small with exercise. A 10-20
minute walk or run a few times week will work.
Also
trying cooking a meal or two at home that you used to go out for. I make homemade pizza instead of ordering delivery.
Which do
you find contributes more to weight loss and keeping it off, diet or exercise?
