Trying Something New

I know I just wrote about rest days and how I let my body decide when to take one, but I am going to try something new.  I have looked back at my running log and I noticed that I am running on average about 4-5 days a week. I am going to start planning my weeks, meaning that I will run 5 days a week and have 2 scheduled rest days.  I’ve decided to run Saturday and Sunday mornings and after work on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

This will help me to achieve more balance in my life to spend time with my family and cook healthy meals while still making time for running.  Having 4 nights free a week will also help me with the mental side of running.  Some days, I contemplate should I run or not run.  This way the decision is already made for me and I can plan my weeks accordingly.  I will also be able to run a little faster or longer on Thursdays and Sundays since I am off the following day.  I am even considering training for a half or full marathon in March.

How rigid is your workout schedule?  Do you stick to it?
