When to take a rest?
This is probably the most difficult question for a runner to
answer. Should I run 7 days a
week? Should I never run more than 2
days in a row? What is the best
solution? Lately, I have been basing my
rest days on how my body feels rather than scheduling them on a specific day. I have run 10 days in a row before and I have
also taken off 4 days.
If my body started to feel tired during a run and I was
already at 3 days in a row, I would take the next day off. If I was running and feeling great, I would
only miss a day if something came up on the schedule. My goal each day was to try to run.
This is why I love Running Without a Watch. During my runs, I push myself according to
how I feel, not because a watch is telling me my pace is too slow.
How often do you take a rest day? How do you determine when to take a rest day?
