Sugarcoating

I am sure most of you have heard about the news anchor who was called obese by one of her viewers. People were calling him a bully or other harsh words.  I do not think he was a bully, but just rude and inconsiderate.

You see many comments in support for this anchor saying, your perfect or your not fat.  She is overweight, it is a fact.  The real issue that is being missed is that people are afraid to tell other people they are overweight.  We sugarcoat this fact with lies as you look great as you are or you do not need to lose weight.  On the flip side, we have no issue telling people that they look too skinny or that we think they lost too much weight.

Sometimes we are not aware of how fat we have become.  I speak from personal experience.  I weighed 50 pounds more than I do now. It was not until an acquaintance who I had not seen for a few years saw me.  He made a comment about my weight and patted my stomach.  After that, I did something about it.

Let us see how this turns out a year from now.  If she does drop her weight, then how bad was the comment?  It would not surprise me to see her on a TV commercial for weight watchers or something similar.
