My son wanted to make cookies the other day, but he thinks
we cannot make them too often because daddy will eat them all. He must have overheard my wife and I speaking
about this and her telling me she doesn’t want me to eat too many.
It bothers me when I hear my kids say these things, and then
I get angry with my wife because I know they probably heard it from her. I eat very healthy, over 10 servings of
fruits and vegetables a day. But deep
down I know she’s right. When we make
cakes and cookies, I find it very hard to eat a reasonable portion. I rationalize that since it is home cooked,
it must be healthy; a homemade cookie is always better than a prepackaged one.
I need to work on this. I want my kids to know it is OK to
eat the occasional treat but not to eat ten cookies at one time. Two steps forward, one step back.
