Homemade Granola

With the rising cost of food, I am always looking for ways to save money.  Cooking instead of buying is one of my favorites.  One of the items that I cook is granola cereal.

We eat cereal for breakfast as a family and the cost of each box has been steadily going up the past few years.  This recipe makes about 14 servings as each serving is ½ a cup.  For breakfast, I usually put a ½ cup of granola with a ½ cup of honey nut cheerios and a ½ cup of soy milk.  My wife puts some in her yogurt.

It takes about 5 minutes to prepare and 30 minutes to cook.
Ingredients:
·         7 cups of oatmeal (not the instant kind)
·         2 teaspoons of cinnamon
·         4 teaspoons of  vanilla
·         ¼ cup canola oil
·         5 tablespoons of date honey

Pour the oatmeal in a bowl.  Then add each ingredient separately mixing after adding it.  Then place on a baking sheet topped with parchment paper for 30 minutes at 300F or 150C.
Enjoy!!!
